LEDBETTER IRELAND UPDATE
Vol. VIII No. 2
May, 1998
Dear Praying
Friends! As always, thank you for
helping us labour for souls here in Ireland! The battle is certainly not to the
strong (Ecclesiastes 9:11), but sometimes, we do wish we were stronger to reach
these Irish hearts! I know that we think it should just "flow," but
for those of us who have been in the battle long enough, we know our job is not
easy when the enemy (the devil) has so blinded the hearts and minds of these
people! But patient plowing does, and will always work ("and let us not
be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not"
Galatians 6:9)! The souls who have been saved here, and are growing are the
proof!
Irish Spring! At the beginning of March we were the hosts of a
special group of ten College students and their Pastor from "Normal"
Illinois, who came to be a help to us here in Ireland! What a help! Wow! With
them here, we were able to personally talk to hundreds of folks about the
Gospel, present the Gospel to multitudes of students at the University of Cork,
and conduct two simultaneous Children's Bible Clubs in Blarney and Mallow!
Several people got saved, and we are following up on them! For three days, we
held the two Bible Clubs, and 51 kids came out to hear the Bible's message, and
have great fun! The surprise came when 26 of the kids came out of the area
neighbourhoods, and attended the Club in Mallow! Seven Mom's came and watched
as their children learned about the treasures that Jesus offers us. We were
delighted!
In the Area
Universities! I have had the honour
of preaching in two area universities recently, at their Christian Student
Union meetings. They went great! I know that I am not a well polished
"professor," but I had a burden to influence those young people to
truly know God, to love God, and to live their life totally for God! At one of
the meetings, I was asked to present a contrast between Biblical Creation and
Evolution, since there was still a lot of interest in the subject since Dr.
Hovind was here. I was terrified! But the material came together, and what
was supposed to be a 45 minute "talk" turned into a two and a half
hour "meeting" with all the questions, and discussion that it
generated. The Lord opened the eyes of many students to the difference between
"religious dogma" and Biblical truth, and how the Bible in no way
contradicts science, unless it's fairy tales like evolution!
Mallow Miracle! I have been worked on Kevin Butler in the
church in Mallow for months about things that were holding him back from
serving God and having true Christian joy. One major thing that had him bound
was his rock music -- but praise God, he came into church Sunday and walked
right up to me and announced they were "gone." I said "What was
gone?" He replied, "You know, the music CD's that dishonour God, and
hold me back!" I said "What happened to them?" He announced that
"a fire makes for a good disposal method!" Hallelujah!
Home-Front News. Baby Sarah continues to grow and shine as the gift
from God that she is! At 7 months, she is a doll, and is well cared for by the
rest of her brothers and sisters! Sharon has passed her third year violin exam
and plays very well in the orchestra. Joel and Joshua are into everything and
make good soldiers! Ruth continues to develop in playing the piano They all are
doing very well in their home school studies! Nita works the hardest
co-ordinating everything - what a gem she is! God truly has a great reward for
Missionary wives!!!
Prayer Requests:
Pray for the following people to get saved: Deiter Base (he is still not
saved yet), the Mayer Family, Warren Cross, Mary Tighe, Marlene
Layton, and Bert & Sheila Patrick -- for the following to grow
strong: Deila Buckley, Kevin Butler, Ken Manley, Pat
Tighe, and The Daly Family -- for all the folks at both Bible
Baptist Churches of Blarney and Mallow -- and, for us to be faithful preaching
God's word here in Ireland!
We thank you
for your prayer, and faithful support!
The Craig Ledbetter Family in Ireland
